Giving Tuesday is a generosity movement - a global day of giving. Give some of your time, a donation, or even just make someone smile!
The Urban farm of Spryfield’s goal is to produce healthy and safe food using the old traditional farming ways and our mission statement is “Promoting Rural Traditions in Urban Places.”
In 2025 we aim to get our market gardens back to our pre-COVID state. Plans to expand the growing area of our gardens are in the works so we can grow and sell more healthy, fresh and affordable food to our friends and neighbours.
We hope you will consider supporting our urban farm on this special day.
We have our donation button at the top of each page, which is through Canada Helps.
We would also welcome offers to volunteer for the 2025 gardening season. You can add your name to our volunteer list by emailing us, ( see link in Contact ) using the subject Volunteer Help.
As our way of giving back - we would like to offer a $5.00 gift certificate for any donation over $20. This can be used toward your vegetable purchase during our 2025 growing season.

Urban Farm Spooky Halloween
This Spooktacular event has our Urban Farm site transformed!
Our farm will once again host the Urban Farm Spooky Halloween along with MLA (Halifax Atlantic) Brendan Maguire, Saturday, October 26th from 5pm to 7 pm
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are looking for people (family, friends, co workers) to take an 8 x 8 ft. section in our field to have fun and decorate to make their own SPOOKY area - with 8 “scaring stations” in total (4 stations are already spoken for). This would require setting up, providing the “scare ‘ at the station, taking down and packing away your area. Some funding is available.
We also need people to help decorate the field and man the hot chocolate table.
So…put on your favourite costume and join in the fun for all ages!
If you wish to obtain an area just email: urbanfarmspryfield@gmail.com and you will be contacted to come and choose the area you would like to set up.
Our rain date for this event will be Sunday, October 27th. Same time.
2021 Urban Farm Spooky Halloween
Harvest Fair / School Farm Day
Once again our Urban Farm site will be a buzz of activity with our Harvest Fair!
Our School Farm Day was put together with our Harvest Fair to bring more students with their families to enjoy all the activities at our event.
The much loved Barnyard Bunch will be back to visit with their farm animals, along with games and crafts for kids of all ages, a guessing jar and various tables with baked goods and items for sale.
Our Basket draw this year is worth $600 !!! Tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5.
These tickets will be sold at our information table and of course, our very own Cookbook ($15.00) and Garden Book ($10.00) will also be available.
We will have Baked Beans with brown bread and molasses, salads, biscuits and other yummy foods to offer at our food venue area. Our annual Birthday cake will be served also as a fitting end to our day!

Evening in the Garden
A warm Summer evening at the Urban Farm site, just the place to bring your blanket to sit and enjoy some music with friends and family!
During this time, come and take a tour of the Gardens and hear a bit of our History.
Seedy Saturday / Plant Sale
Come join us at the Urban Farm Museum site! We will be outside at our farm this year! We are going to need plants, cuttings and seedlings to sell for this event. If you are interested in participating please contact us. We also need to start seeds inside for the new cut flower plot. If you have room and can help, we'd appreciate it.
PLEASE NOTE: If Saturday is a rainy day, the event will take place on Sunday May 26th - same time.
Plant drop off accepted Saturday 9:30-11:00 am May 25th.
Halloween Spooky Night
This Spooktacular event has our Urban Farm site transformed!
On the night of the full moon our farm will once again host the Halloween Spooky Night Saturday, October 28th from 5pm to 7 pm! Put on your favourite costume and join in the fun! Our rain date for this event will be Sunday, October 29th.
1st entrance: Farm gate entrance directly across from #73 Rockingstone Road.
2nd entrance: Across the Tartan Street bridge where Ardwell and Tartan meet.
3rd entrance: Just above Captain William Spry ctr, off Sussex turn onto Kidstion road and walk up Kidston Road path to entrance.
